What is plate flange
Flanges are parts that connect pipes to each other and are used to connect between pipe ends; they are also used as flanges on the import and export of equipment to connect two pieces of equipment.
What is a flange? Many people don't know what it is when they hear or see it. The following article will give you an introduction to the flange.
Plate flanges are also known as flat flanges, flat flanges and sliding flanges. A plate flange is a flat disc that is welded to the end of a pipe and allows it to be bolted to another pipe. Typically used for fuel and water piping, two plate flanges will be bolted together with a gasket between them. The plate flanges will have bolt holes around the entire perimeter and will be used to create connections, tees and joints.
When constructing piping, the length of pipe used is not always known. By fabricating the pipe separately from the plate flanges, the welder can cut the pipe to length and weld the plate flanges in place to connect any desired length of pipe. These plates can also be welded to the pipe at a slight skew, allowing the connection of two pipes that may not be precisely aligned.
The plate flanges are designed to be uniform in any given dimension, regardless of the material used to create them. This allows a 6" (15 cm) black pipe flange to fit perfectly with a 6" stainless steel flange. The plate flange will have a serrated finish on the internal mating surface, which allows the plate to be held in the gasket material. This ensures a perfect seal between the two connecting tubes.
There are many different types of flanges used for different purposes. Blind plates are used as caps or lids for pipes to seal or plug them. Slip-on plates allow the plate to be slid onto the pipe and then welded into place. Using socket-welded plates at the ends of two pipes allows them to be easily connected and disconnected.
Flange plates with chamfers and bevels are used to help align two non-aligned pipes. Plates with stud outlets are plates where studs are inserted around the plate instead of bolt holes. This type of plate allows the pipe to be connected by sliding one flange plate onto a stud on a second flange plate and then tightening the nut to secure both.
The flange plate can be easily removed from a section of pipe or added to the pipe. Without flange plates, the pipe would need to be cut and welded to separate or add to it. This would be more expensive and the pipe would be out of service for a longer period of time.
Flanges are widely used in industry, shipbuilding, water supply, chemical industry, construction, water supply, drainage, petroleum, light and heavy industry, refrigeration, sanitation, plumbing, fire-fighting, electric power, aerospace, shipbuilding, etc.
